level up fast skyrim

The most straightforward way to level up fast in Skyrim is to simply play the game the way it was intended. Your character gains experience for every skill you use. Therefore, the more you use certain skills, the more you’ll level up.

If you play as an archer often, then your Archery and Sneak skills are probably going to level up faster than the rest.

Keep in mind that you’ll have to figure out which skills and what kind of armor you’re going to focus on.

There are moments where you’ll want to gain experience as fast as possible to reach a certain point in your character’s journey. You can take advantage of this system to level up faster in Skyrim.

If you have several characters with different builds and races, then starting from scratch and leveling up can become a drag.

Be Aware of Level Caps

While the level cap in Skyrim is level 50, you can technically reach something closer to level 70 if you manage to level up every single skill to a 100.

The leveling system is strategic, making you think about how to spend your newly gained points every time you level up, giving you a choice between Health, Stamina, and Magicka.

Not only that, but you’ll also gain a perk to spend on your skills most of the time.

While there are 250 perks in the game, your character will only be able to use between 70-90 perks, so make sure to spend them wisely and plan out your build.

Buy Your Skills

Throughout your journey, you’ll find several experts who can help you hone certain skills in exchange for gold. This quick boost of skill is a great shortcut if you have the gold to spend. It can get expensive over time, though.

So, it is best to use skill trainers sparingly, leveling up skills that you’ve neglected or that you need to unlock certain perks for.

Paying for skill trainers can also come in handy when you want to try out different magic abilities or armor types.

Level Up Combat Skills

If you want to level up quickly, it is also advisable to level up your combat skills, such as blocking, one-handed or two-handed.

This is mainly because, while it is easy to level up quickly through a whole bunch of different methods, the world will also level with you in terms of combat.

So, if you decide to only level up non-combat skills such as Speech, Lockpicking, and Pickpocketing, your enemies will get stronger, becoming more resistant and able to inflict more damage, which will make you feel like your character is made of paper.

Smithing Iron Daggers

smithing iron daggers

To level up Blacksmithing in Skyrim, make iron daggers. Since iron is extremely common and cheap, you’ll be able to find lots of it to make into weapons, equipment, and jewelry.

You can also buy iron bars, iron ores, and leather, as well as leather strips.

Once you’re tired of making iron daggers, you can make armor sets of either light or heavy armor and weapons. Gold, silver, and gems, while less common, are also extremely helpful.

If you need help finding iron ores, here’s a useful wiki page that’ll tell you the spawn locations of iron ores.

Have a Follower

skyrim follower

Having a follower can be a huge help to level up quickly in Skyrim. It may not seem so at first, but unlike what a lot of players think, especially those who like to fly solo, a follower is not just a glorified backpack.

While it makes your game easier to have a companion that can carry all of the extra stuff you may need later, they can also act as a source of damage.

Now, charging at a group of enemies head-on is not such a crazy idea when you have an NPC that can work as a tank.

This strategy will allow you to take less damage while inflicting more damage to your enemies.

You will survive longer and gain more experience as a result.

Fight Tough Enemies

This might be a no-brainer, but many players actually have a hard time breaking out of their comfort zone, which prevents them from taking risks and leveling up quickly.

You can benefit a lot from just exploring the world. Enter dungeons and kill enemies even if you might feel underleveled.

While certain enemies are a death sentence at lower levels (Just try to step close to a giant!), others can pose a fun and rewarding challenge.

Besides, taking hits will raise your Light or Heavy Armor, and recovering from the brink of death with healing spells will increase your Restoration fairly quickly.

Read Books

Another easy way to level up fast is to read different Skill and Spell Books scattered throughout Skyrim.

If you’re having trouble differentiating Skill Books from journals or lore books, look at the price. Skill Books usually cost 50 gold or more, whereas lore or fictional books are generally only worth a few coins.

Use Sneak and Muffle

sneak and muffle

You can use the Muffle spell while sneaking around for greater effect. Even when enemies are not looking at you, or you’re flat-out invisible, you can still be heard. Muffle lowers the enemy’s hearing range, allowing you to maneuver around them without making a sound. This spell is handy for those hardened warriors who use heavy armor.

Once you reach higher levels in your Illusion skills, you can use Invisibility to sneak around and combine it with Muffle and use Harmony to calm people in crowded areas. Your Illusion should rise quickly by combining these skills in different ways.

The Guardian Stones

guardian stones

Right after escaping Helgen, there are three Guardian Stones in a nearby river.

Each one is marked with one of three paths that represent a subset of skills: This will be the Thief, Mage, and Warrior. Each will grant a 20% boost to whatever branch of those skills you choose.

If your playstyle is more into combat, heavy armor, and double-handed weapons, the Warrior will be perfect for you.

If you’re more into sneaking and arching, then the Thief will be your obvious choice.

And if you’re going to rely a lot on your spells, then the Mage is the one to go.

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

For those who don’t know, sleeping in Skyrim provides experience bonuses that will help you level up fast for the next eight in-game hours.

If you sleep in someone else’s bed, you’ll get a 5% bonus experience. You’ll gain 10% for sleeping in your own bed and 15% for sleeping with your in-game wife or husband.

Make An Alchemy Loop

alchemy

Alchemy is another great way to level up quickly in Skyrim. The most straightforward way is to go to an Alchemy shop, buy ingredients and produce high-quality potions and poisons that will gain you the most experience.

There is another way to use Alchemy to your advantage, however. An alchemy loop is a method in which you combine Enchanting and Alchemy.

To start, make a potion that fortifies your enchanting skill. Then, enchant a piece of armor or equipment that fortifies Alchemy. Wear that piece of armor when creating new potions, and keep going.

Eventually, you’ll see how one starts benefiting the other greatly.

Smithing/Enchanting Combo

You can combine Smithing and Enchanting skills for a more efficient effect. All you need is a good amount of gold to start, around two to three thousand gold, and several common or petty soul gems.

It is also incredibly beneficial if one of your weapons has a soul trap enchantment. This will save you from having to buy too many filled gems.

Buy iron ingots and ore, buy leather and leather strips. With this, we’re going to make as many iron daggers as possible.

Then, you can use your enchanting altar to enchant the daggers with the spells you’re able to by using your petty and soul gems.

After, you can sell the enchanted daggers to merchants and wait until their inventories restock, usually after three in-game days. Rinse and repeat.

Combine Alteration and Restoration Spells

alteration restoration spells

You can level up faster by combining different spells from Alteration and Restoration at the same time.

You can accomplish this by using Equilibrium, an Alteration spell that restores your Magicka by draining your Health.

Then, heal yourself and alternate between the spells as you see fit. By equipping one spell into each hand and then spamming Equilibrium followed by Healing, you’ll be able to quickly gain experience in both schools of magic.
