Download and install Minecraft’s Optifine version through its website.
Once installed, run it through the Minecraft Launcher, where you’ll be able to select it from the list on the left.
However, your game won’t look better just by installing Optifine. Find a shader that you like from the web and install it too.

Run the Optifine version. Go to Video Settings, press Shaders, and select the Shaders Folder.

Search the modpacks or resource pack of your choosing.
Run the app and select Minecraft. It’ll show a page with all the modpacks for you to select.
Once downloaded and installed, they’ll show up under My Modpacks, where you’ll be able to click Play and launch Minecraft from there.
