Virtual reality is the future. There’s no denying that, and while the technology is still in its infancy, it’s been making leaps in advancement, turning it into a more viable way of playing.

Not too long ago, it was still questionable if VR would become a thing or if it would fade away the same way 3D movies failed to reach its full potential. So far, it seems to be a different case with more and more games being compatible with virtual reality headsets and even being made with an immersive experience in mind. In a previous post, we talked about how a mod could allow you to play GTA V in virtual reality. So, there’s no telling what the future holds for this platform, the one thing I’m sure of is that it is a bright one. For the fans of this innovative way of gaming, here are a few of the best PlayStation VR accessories.

PlayStation Move Motion Controllers

Similar models of these controllers were released way back when Xbox was trying to appeal to the masses with the Kinect. They were a direct response in competition but failed to deliver on the quality that was promised. That changed, however, with the introduction of the PSVR, these new models found a place to call home where they could be used with their full potential, increasing the immersive aspect of gameplay with advanced motion sensors to track your movements and provide a seamlessness experience to the way we play VR games. The list of games that support these controllers is on the rise, and I’m positive that in no time, we’ll see more games incorporate them into their gameplay.

Sony Camera V2

For anyone who owns the motion controllers, the Sony Camera V2 for PlayStation 4 is a must. The camera is needed for the VR experience as it tracks your movements. You can also use it to stream on Twitch, Youtube, and PlayStation Live. Setting up the camera is as easy as plugging it in and follow a few prompts. It also has a built-in microphone that sounds crisp and clear.

PlayStation 4 Platinum Headset

Next on the list of PlayStation VR accessories we have the PlayStation 4 Platinum Headset. Since this headset was created by Sony to be used on the PS4, the sound quality is top of the line with a sense of spatial awareness that not many headsets have. And using VR, where you want to be as much in the game as possible, I can’t recommend this enough, especially in situations where it is vital to know where your enemies are compared to you. This headset is the best in terms of gameplay functionality that you could find on the market for that price. Battery life is also pretty good for long play sessions.

Bionik Mantis Attachable VR Headphones

The Bionik Mantis is another great option if you’re on a budget but still want to get on the VR experience as faithfully as possible. They have an adjustable design, and it’s made with the VR headset in mind. They’re easy to attach and comfortable. If you’re not a fan of bulky headsets on top of the one you’d be wearing to play in VR, then these headphones are definitely well worth it.

USA GEAR Console Carrying Case

Whether you own a PlayStation VR or not, I would highly recommend this case. It has saved my life a couple of times, and if you find yourself having to move your console around, you know how much of a pain can be to manage all the cables and manage to fit them in one bag. I’ve never had to worry about any of that after I bought this case. It’s padded, firm, large, and comfortable. It has storage for controllers, headsets, and the console, so it’s all organized in a neat way that you no longer have to figure out what goes where after stuffing it all in your five-year-old backpack.

For Games

We can’t talk about PlayStation VR accessories without mentioning some of the best games available for it. While there’s a myriad of possibilities when it comes to VR gaming, the truth is that most of them are short and sweet titles that try to explore different aspects of the technology. There’s no doubt that there’s a lot of fun to be had with VR, but if you want to explore a bit deeper with longer titles that you can fully immerse yourself in, I highly recommend the following:

Resident Evil 7: One of the best horror games to come out is even more visceral and frightening in VR. A must for anyone who owns the PSVR headset.

Skyrim: This game has been released on almost every platform since it came out, and it’s no wonder why. And now, you can explore the world and dungeons of Skyrim like you’re actually there. This version also includes all of the DLC, so prepare to be immersed in this fantasy land for at least 100 more hours.

– Astro Bot Rescue Mission: This platformer is an instant classic. The kind of experience you’re going to find in this game is only comparable to the likes of Nintendo, and I can’t stress enough how fun this game is.
